Getting Started

When is a good time to get started?

Like most Cub Scout Packs, we go year-round.  You can become a scout at any time of the year. Just contact our Cubmaster or the Den Leader in your age group - or, simply show up at one of our meetings.

If you have an interest in learning more about our Pack, if you have questions, or if you are ready to get started, please click here and fill out our website form.  It only takes a minute and we will contact you shortly.

When do we meet?

Pack Meetings are normally held once per month and all of our scouts (K-5th grade) get together in the same place. The meeting is normally led by the Cubmaster.  Keep an eye on the Pack calendar for the date. You are welcome to stop by if you are considering joining the Pack.  We gear the meeting towards the kids and the goal is to have fun and recognize them for their recent accomplishments (with awards, pins, loops, badges, and whatever else we dream up!).

Den Meetings and Den Outings -- when just one rank meets with the Den Leader(s) -- are normally held two to three times a month.

To verify meeting times, you can check the calendar here.

What is the Cost of Joining?

First - don't let the cost scare you off.  It's not that expensive and our Pack is able to assist if you need help.  The person to see about assistance is the Committee Chair. Any related matters will be kept between you and them but you can tend to that later.

Second - The annual fee is $125.00 and is payable in installments if needed. The fee includes council registration, BSA insurance, awards throughout the year (patches, pins, belt loops, etc), Boys Life Magazine and the rank handbook.  A scout uniform includes shirt, convertible pants (legs zip off for shorts) and a fully-adjustable belt scout belt; these items are all available at the Scout Shop and range in price depending on the fabric chosen. We advise the purchase of slightly oversized uniform pieces so they last a few years. Pack 66 also has a no-cost uniform exchange, so that's often a great place to start.

Pack 66 leadership is not worried about the fees being paid up front.  We can work with your family.  Scouting is actually quite reasonable considering all that your son/daughter/family will be doing throughout the year.  Don't let the cost get in the way of your decision to join Scouting.
